the future. Support groups are typically led by a trained health care professional. \u201cPeer support\u201d is a term we use to refer to advice and help received from fellow patients or people without medical training.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Benefits of support groups<\/h4>\n<p>The common experience among members of a support group often means they have similar feelings, worries, everyday problems, treatment decisions or treatment side effects. Participating in a group provides you with an opportunity to be with people who are likely to have a common purpose and likely to understand one another.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits of participating in a support group may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feeling less lonely, isolated or judged<\/li>\n<li>Reducing distress, depression, anxiety or fatigue<\/li>\n<li>Talking openly and honestly about your feelings<\/li>\n<li>Improving skills to cope with challenges<\/li>\n<li>Staying motivated to manage chronic conditions or stick to treatment plans<\/li>\n<li>Gaining a sense of empowerment, control or hope<\/li>\n<li>Improving understanding of a disease and your own experience with it<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Learning about health, economic or social resources<\/span><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section explore how other people going through similar experiences are coping.<\/p>Sharing your experience with others can lessen feelings of isolation and provide a space to develop skills to manage stress elementor-cta__content-item elementor-content-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Younger people affected by cancer can experience complex issues beyond the treatment phase.
